Applying Negative Energy Towards Good Omens
2023 was a tough year full of ups and downs for me.

I went through my collection of Japanese art books to lift my spirits and found some really whimsical hariko toys from the Meiji and Taisho eras. Hariko toys were created to wish good fortune. Some were gifted for to bring in the New Years with lots of luck, hung to to off thunder storms, or, more famously, put in shops to bring in good profits like the lucky cat maneki neko. I was surprised to find so many more different kinds of hariko toys.

This is a series inspired by hariko toys with a little KITTYZILLA twist -- cats!
